JBK's Open Ostara Gathering
is about celebrating the end of the winter and the coming of
Spring. It is a celebration of all the possibilities of
the coming months. It is a welcoming of Spring, and renewed life, and prosperous times. For us,
it is also the event that marks the time of the year when Midwest Heathens
shake off the snow and begin to travel to see one another
again. We will honor Ostara and all of our Gods and Goddesses.
We will honor our Ancestors. And we will gift the Vaettir of
the land. And we will do all of this together, as
On March 8-9, 2014, heathen tribes, strong
families, and solid heathen individuals from around the
Heartland will gather at Gaea Retreat, a campground about 40
minutes outside of the Kansas City Area. There
are normally 70 to 80 Heathens in attendance, including many children.
We will feast together. Share a horn in Folk Symbel. We'll play
games, learn from one another, and catch up on everything that's been
going on during the winter months.
Participation is FREE, and
you don't have to pre-register. Simply show up, bring a dish
for the pot-luck dinner, and pay Gaea Retreat's inexpensive camping
fees. $5 for a day-pass, $10 for tent camping, and $15 for
space in a cabin. Kids are free. You can come for the
day, stay for a night, or stay for two nights and enjoy Gaea Retreat
for the whole weekend. We have reserved the Main Hall, so this
event will be comfortable and successful regardless of the
a tentative event schedule.
The cabins have electricity and
heat. To reserve a cabin, contact the Caretaker at
Gaea Retreat at 913-796-2141.
