My dad, Glen Stinson told great stories...and great jokes. Dinner time was always filled with tales and laughter. When family friends would come over to the house when I was a child, I would sit quietly at the dinner table when the meal was over, and listen to the hours of stories and jokes. Some were probably not meant for children...but as long as I sat quietly and listened, no one seemed to mind me being there. I could not get enough of his stories...
When I got older, dad and I still shared stories and jokes. Except now I had stories to tell. So we would swap stories. Many of his stories I had heard over and over again, but I never really tired of them. I would even ask him to tell me certain stories over again that I was fond of. The stories were full of humor and wisdom, and the stories made me feel connected with Dad.
So, you can imagine how happy I was when my dad in his later years began writing his stories down. He wrote one book full of stories...and then a few years later, another book full of personal stories. I'm working on posting the stories in these two books for others to enjoy. I'll also be adding material from a Journal that Dad kept right before going off to war, a Journal he kept of his feelings towards my mother, and a Journal he kept for me when he was older. Its a long-term project...so check back now and again... Mark Stinson April 28, 2008 DAD'S JOURNAL MARK L. STINSON |
